Years to Earn Trust, Only Seconds to Destroy it

Some people say that honesty and trustworthiness isn’t as important as it used to be.

But I still think that someone’s word is worth a lot. And maybe because a good honest person is becoming more rare, it’s even MORE valuable than it used to be.

If you’re one of my subscribers, I’m, betting that you agree with me and you place a high value on being trustworthy.

But what you may not have thought much about is just how fragile trust is.

You can invest a lifetime in being a man or woman of their word. Others can hold you in high regard, believe what you say and have every confidence that you will do what you say you will, WHEN you say you will.

But it can all be destroyed overnight with one lapse in judgement or one moral misstep.

As Charles Spurgeon once said, “A lie can travel half way around the world while truth is putting on its shoes.”

It might not seem fair, but that’s the way it is. The 100 times you didn’t lie weighs little compared the heavy weight of your current lie.

You can lose all your money and recover. You can fail in business and relationships and come back. But it’s VERY hard to come back from a ruined reputation.

Being honest with yourself and being honest with everyone you deal with is not just something nice to do. It’s the only thing to do if you want a stellar reputation.

Best Life Tip: Build your reputation of honesty and integrity. And GUARD it with all you have.
