Who’s On Your Team?

Yes, You Do Have a Team.

If you’re a solopreneur, employee, or even semi-retired like myself, you may think you don’t have a team like you would in a larger business.

But you actually do have a team. And I think it’s important that we see it as a team, to acknowledge and evaluate these members as we progress in our intentional and meaningful life.

Allow me to explain.

If you’re committed to living your best life, you aren’t going to do it by yourself. You need the help and cooperation of others to succeed. Your doctor, your financial advisor, your coach and certainly your wife or husband may quickly come to mind. And there are others.

I recently added a page to my Best Life Navigator (yes, it’s still growing and expanding) that lists all the people or services that comprise my Best Life Team. In addition to the ones listed above, I also wrote down our pool guy, the people who take care of our lawn, the woman who cuts my hair, my mastermind partners, our dentist, and our handyman.

All of these people and more contribute to the quality and comfort of my life. They all help me to live a better life. I contribute to them and they to me. It’s win, win for sure.

I also listed friends and family. I looked at them not just in terms of appreciation for them in our lives, but also how trusted they are and how dependable they are in terms of their support. I may not pay them for what they contribute, but I think it’s important to acknowledge their contribution.

I found this shift in perspective it to be a worthwhile exercise and will no doubt think of other people now that it has my attention.

And I encourage you to give it a try as well. Thinking of these people not only as vendors or friends can change the way you see and interact with them.

Seeing these people as your team, rather than as peripheral players, can unlock a new level of collaboration and mutual benefit. You have (or can have) a solid support system working alongside you—each person contributing their unique skills and talents.

If nothing else, it will likely cause you to be more grateful and appreciative of them. I know it has for me.

It also makes you feel less alone. You have a team. Yes, you do.

“It’s not the the team with the best players that win.
It’s the players with the best team that wins.”
