Simplify

My Theme for 2021 is Simplify. When I told Dawn that simplify was what I wanted to use as our theme, she said, “But we already have a simple life.”

And she’s right. We have simplified our life over the years. We have less “stuff”, more peace, clear priorities—a harmonious existence for sure. We did this by choice, by planning and by making good decisions.

But I believe the biggest room in the world is the room for improvement. I know we can make our life even simpler.

There are things we can eliminate, tolerations to identify and destroy and ways we can make things run smoother, easier and with less involvement on our part. It should be fun.

So I am rereading our own book (along with others on simplifying) called 101 Great Ideas to Simplify Your Life: How to Slash Stress, Ditch the Drama and Intensify Your Tranquility. It’s LOADED with ideas to create a more simplified existence.

If you don’t have a copy, I encourage you to get one today-see below (Kindle or paperback).

One approach to simplifying that I don’t think is in the book is to examine your roles. We all have roles and by looking at these different areas of our life with an eye toward simplification, you can find ways to un-complicate, clarify and make more simple.

One of the many pages in The Best Life Navigator is a list of roles. Here are the ones I’ve identified in my life. You will likely have some of the same ones, but also some different ones.

Personal

  • Brother
  • Business Owner/Leader
  • Citizen Patriot
  • Father
  • Friend
  • Husband
  • Wealth Manager

Professional

  • Author
  • Best Life Architect
  • Coach
  • Content Creator
  • Facilitator
  • Finance Director
  • Lead Generator
  • Marketer
  • Rainmaker
  • Researcher
  • Speaker
  • Student
  • Thought Leader

Two others that I deleted this past year due to my father’s passing was caregiver and son.

I suggest you create your own list of roles. And then, examine the ways in which you perform these roles and look for things that are more complicated than they need be. What can be streamlined? What steps can be eliminated?

Remember my SODA pneumonic.

  • Simplify
  • Organize
  • Delegate
  • Automate

You find what you’re looking for. And if you’re seriously looking to simplify your life, defeat overwhelm and lead a more peaceful existence, you will find ways to do just that.

Give it a go!
