How’s Your Reserve Power?

I was only about six years old when I learned to drive a tractor on our family farm. We had a small red Massey Ferguson that was used for pulling wagons, haying, harrowing and such.

Unfortunately, It didn’t have a fuel gauge and you had to keep track of how much gas was in the tank. What it DID have was a switch under the fuel tank that allowed a small amount of gasoline to be accessed when the tank ran dry. It came in pretty handy a number of times getting back to the farm yard instead of being stranded in the field.

As appreciative as I was of this whole reserve idea, it would be a number of years later before I understood the importance of having reserves in all areas of our lives.

Reserve Power reduces stress, worry and anxiety. It allows us to feel more abundant and attract more good things into our lives. With reserves, we can focus better and enjoy the process more. Without it, we never feel like we have enough and we fear running out of something important.

I’m not talking about hoarding here, I’m simply advocating for having ample supplies of things we need. Early on in the Covid-19 Pandemic, people were buying up large quantities of toilet paper and stores were running out. We didn’t panic because we always have at least a six-month supply. Same with food and water.

We live in a hurricane zone, so being stocked up makes sense. But even if we didn’t live in a hurricane area, we’d still have reserve supplies. It really doesn’t cost much. And the peace of mind is worth a LOT.

We keep our car’s fuel tank topped off and rarely get below a quarter tank. No reserve tanks on these cars like that old Massey Ferguson. We also keep at least $40 hidden in the car and another $40 in a pouch on the back of our phones.

It might seem like a little thing, but I think Reserve Power plays a very large role in making life simpler, easier and more stress-free.

I suggest you look at all areas of your life and look where you can add reserves. Make sure you have living and working space that is adequate and supportive. What boundaries do you need to establish and enforce? Where can you build in time and energy reserves so that you don’t feel so up-against deadlines and schedules.

You don’t need to do it all at once. Pick and area and reinforce that area with reserves. Then tackle another one. With each area you will experience the reserve reward.

If you buy into Reserve Power and look hard at the stress points in your life, you will find ways to create reserves and create more serenity. I’m sure of it.

One of the things that got me thinking about this Reserve Power was re-reading 101 Great Ideas to Simplify Your Life. It truly does have some great suggestions on how to slash stress, ditch the drama and intensify your tranquility. It’s available in Kindle and paperback from Amazon. Makes a great gift, too.
