We All Need Reminders of What Works

Not long ago, one of my mastermind partners gave me a suggestion. I knew it was a good one and I knew it would work because I’d used it before and had even recommended it to others with good success.

But the fact is—as good as this practice was—I wasn’t doing it. A strategy I believed in and had even experienced was no longer being employed. I had to ask myself why.

How about you? Do you do all the things you know? Do you consistently practice the things you’ve learned—the things that have worked for you in the past? I thought so.

So why DON’T we do all those things. I think it comes down to a lack of focus.

Staying focused on the things that matter most is one of our biggest challenges we face. Being reminded of things we already know—but need to re-examine—is a valuable benefit of being part of SuccessNet.

We all look for new ideas, strategies and principles that can help us achieve our objectives. But the truth is there isn’t all that much that’s new in the world. Things might APPEAR new, but most of the time, it’s just a new perspective—a different way to use or apply the information. But we still need to be reminded.

Looking back over the past few months of our articles, I found reminders about . . .

  • What works
  • What doesn’t
  • Things to do that will produce positive results
  • Resources we can use
  • Where things can be found
  • When to do things
  • How to do things
  • Profound wisdom of men and women in history
  • Who to contact for help
  • Taking better care of ourselves
  • Books to read—or reread
  • And much more . . .

Our lives are more complex today than ever before. Now, more than ever, we lead busy, hectic and often stressful lives. It’s easy to get sidetracked, distracted, misdirected and preoccupied.

And that’s why we need to be reminded of the most important things in our lives. A mastermind team and other trusted sources of information and inspiration is a critical asset. Reading good books and listening to and watching good audio and video programs is also high on the list. The important thing is to have a support system for you to operate at your personal and professional best.

As we acquire new information and as we’re reminded of things we already know, at some point, we have to sit down and think about how it all applies to us. We have to ponder how it affects where we are and where we want to be. We have to assimilate it and connect it with all the rest of our knowledge and experience.

Just having the information—and the reminders—isn’t enough. We need to APPLY the knowledge we have available to us. We have to act.
