KISS: Keep It Super Simple

Business and life often fall victim to Complexity Creep. Things have a tendency to become more complicated—instructions, policies, objectives, processes—everything.

And the longer you do something, the more things usually become irrelevant, redundant or completely unnecessary.

Make it a point to regularly evaluate what you’re doing and how you’re doing it. Look to make things Super Simple. Most errors occur not because somebody doesn’t do their job, but because there are too many opportunities for mistakes to occur.

There are many ways to do less with more. But you have to be looking for them. For each process, task, department, policy, goal or objective—ask yourself these questions . . .

  • What is the purpose of this?
  • Does it accomplish its intended purpose?
  • Is it still relevant?
  • Is it even necessary anymore? Do we need it?
  • Would we start doing this if we were starting over?
  • Is there anything about this that is unnecessarily redundant (some redundancy may be prudent)?
  • How can we cut down the number of steps, points, chapters, etc.?

Henry David Thoreau wrote, “Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify, simplify!” And it’s reported that Emerson responded by saying, “One simplify should have been sufficient”.

In our busy, complex, multi-tasking, 24/7 world, it’s even more important than ever to simplify every area of our lives.

We even wrote a book about it. It’s called 101 Great Ideas to Simplify Your Life.

I know, I know, it would have been better if we had the THREE BEST ways to simplify your life, but we just couldn’t make it that simple. Plus it wouldn’t have been a book.

I encourage you to take a look at it and if you think it’s a good fit—and I’m pretty sure it is—order it for your self-improvement library. And take action . . .
