It’s Time to Try Something Different

In these challenging financial times, it seems that those who are unwilling or unable to change what they’re doing are having the toughest time.

Unless you have large cash reserves to wait out these uncertain times, you are clearly going to be at a disadvantage if you maintain the status quo.

And even if you’re able to wait until things return to normal, you have to consider the real possibility that things will NEVER go back to the way they were.

Almost every day, I talk with business owners, as well as people who work for others, who lament how things just aren’t the same.

Instead of directing their energy toward what they want, they remain focused on what they don’t want. Instead of innovating, they’re complaining.

Now more than ever we have to be willing to try different ways to get the results we want.

As General Eric Shinseki, former Chief of Staff, U.S. Army said, “If you don’t like change, you’re going to like irrelevance even less.”

We must take a hard look at where we are, what’s working and what’s not working.

Doing the same thing and hoping for better results isn’t going to work.

Hope is not a strategy.

I encourage you to examine carefully everything you’re doing, the results you’re getting and consider trying new strategies.

I’m not advocating throwing everything out and starting over. But I AM suggesting that you try, test and tweak.

Like a trim tab on an airplane wing, sometimes the smallest changes can create substantial results.

Also, ask around. Find out what other people are doing. You can copy, adapt and build on other people’s innovative ideas. Just stay open to new ways of doing things.

Here at SuccessNet, we’re making changes, for sure. And we’ll be telling you about the ones that affect you. Please stay tuned.
