Don’t Let Anyone Steal Your Dream

Our fondest dreams and highest aspirations may very well be our most valuable possessions. And yet we don’t protect them nearly as well as we do our material assets.

Our dreams are often stolen by those people who are closest to us. Sometimes well-intended but misdirected friends and relatives can do us the greatest harm—by pouring cold water on our hopes and dreams.

We must safeguard our ambitions. It’s critical that we guard them from the dream killers and spirit suckers. It’s easy for people to ridicule, disparage and criticize our goals and abilities. Some engage in it almost like it was a sport.

Our dreams need tender care and nourishment—especially in the early stages. Nurture them well.

Action Point
Share your big goals and dreams only with people you know will be supportive. Don’t listen to the naysayers. Stay around people who will be honest about your plans but who encourage rather than discourage you.

And remember what Frank Sinatra said, “The best revenge is massive success.”
