Are You Clear on These Things?

If it’s true that clarity leads to power—and I believe it is—what do we need to be clear about? Well, everything, of course. The more clarity we have the better our thinking becomes which results in better decisions and more elegant results.

Clarity is the height of wisdom.

The following list is certainly not everything. But it’s a start on some of the more important areas we should be clear about.

I ask that you rate yourself on each one on a scale of one to ten. Zero means you have no idea and 10 is you are crystal clear with nary a doubt. Your assessment will show you where you need to focus.

My Compelling Core Values
Your top five governing core values for your life. Not the ones you think you should have, the ones you actually have.

My Powerful Purpose
My reason for being.

My Meaningful Mission
The direction of my life.

My Vital Vision
The picture I have of where I want to be in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years. What it looks like and feels like.

My Solid Goals
My top three specific, meaningful, worthwhile and measurable targets. And why.

My Projects
The projects that are in support of my top goals.

Tasks
The action steps I plan to take to complete my projects.

My Tolerations
Those things that nag, distract, irritate, annoy that sap my power that I am ridding myself of.

My SCOT List
A current list of my Strengths, Challenges, Opportunities and Threats.

My Roles
The roles I have. i.e. father, author, husband, board member, business owner, etc.

My Net Worth
A running balance sheet. What assets I have minus my liabilities.

My Beliefs
What I know to be true and what truly matters to me. What I stand for.

HPAs/LPAs
My Highest Payoff Activities. What produces the most results, creates the greatest value, generates the most satisfaction and/or earns the most money. Conversely, your Low Pay-off Activities—the ones you want to delegate, outsource or in some way get off your plate.

There are so many others things to be clear on. But these are a powerful place to start. Get clear on these and you’ll find more clarity in other areas. And the rest of your life will move away from chaos toward more order. You will be less stressed, more productive, more confident, command greater respect, feel more focused and directed, and embrace your wisdom.
