What Are You Tracking and Measuring?

Track, Measure, Monitor, Analyze and Control
Most likely you’ve heard the phrase, “What gets measured gets done.” Or maybe, “You can’t change what you don’t measure.”

Best practices in business demand good tracking of Key Performance Indicators. KPI’s are a small number of agreed-upon measurements that reflect your organization’s critical goals for success--like a numerical snapshot.

But our personal lives can also benefit from Key Performance Indicators.

Tracking things like our productivity, habits and health stats keep us focused on the things that will shape our future and determine our success.

I know that when I’m really paying attention to what I eat, how much I weigh and how much I’m exercising, it’s MUCH easier to lose weight. The trick is to find an easy enough way to do this.

And I recently found a great website and app for the iPhone that’s free, fun and easy to use. LoseIt.com enables you to set weight goals, track your exercise and input your calorie consumption. It also syncs between your iPhone and the website so you can update quickly in either place.

I love it and have already lost six pounds since the first of the month--and ten of those days I was on vacation.

One of our illustrious speakers at this year’s SuccessNet Summit is Shane Fielder, “The Innovative Samurai”. His talk is titled, The Sword, the Sandal and the Cloth--Leveraging Your Fundamental Success Indicators.

It’s all about creating systems for tracking and measuring the things that really matter in terms of achieving what you truly want.

His presentation alone is worth making the trip to Orlando next month, because he’ll show you how to create customized dashboards to monitor your activities and zero in on your targets.

And the other speakers will have different, but highly valuable presentations on how you can get what you truly want.
