I’m not an economist and I don’t pretend to know a great deal about international banking, the mortgage industry and the like. But without question, decisions were made, shortcuts were taken and too many people let their values go by the wayside.

Integrity was clearly lacking.

But there’s much more to integrity than simply being honest and playing by the rules.

The second and third definition of integrity is wholeness and completeness.

And under those definitions, VERY FEW companies—large or small—truly have integrity.

Most small businesses today merely employ the people who own them. The “owners” work for the business instead of the business working for the owner.

And it’s not their fault.

Few small business owners understand that their business is largely an opportunity—a project if you will—and lacks the wholeness that’s necessary to sustain growth and survive for more than a few years.

And sadly, most of them will fail.
