How Does Your Business Stand Out?

We had an outstanding experience working with ABF U-Pack www.UPack.com in our move from Vermont to Florida.

This freight company has a relocation service using a containerized process for people to pack and ship their belongings.

They dropped three ReloCubes® at our home in Vermont for us to fill over three days. They picked them up and the ReloCubes® arrived in Florida just a couple of days after we did. And we had another three days to get them unloaded. It's a great service and ABF did a superb job at every point in the process.

It was an exceptional experience because the service was good,and every contact with them was professional and courteous. They did what they said they would, when they said they would do it. And in addition, the price was reasonable and there were no hidden charges or surprises.

All this shouldn't be all that exceptional.

But it was, because it's so uncommon.

Unfortunately, dealing with a company you've never done business with is a gamble.

All too often, businesses focus only on the short view and not the long run.

What about you and your business?

How do you stand out? What sets you apart from other companies offering similar products or services? Do you provide an exceptional experience for the customer? Is it noticeable? Would your customers write an unsolicited testimonial raving about how great you are?

It really doesn't take all that much. And it's not complicated.

Be honest and forthright. Do what you say you'll do. Do it on time. Deliver a little more than promised. Be friendly and follow up.

If you do that, you'll surely stand out. Because hardly anyone else is doing it.

And if you do a good job staying in touch with your customers and prospects you'll continue to do business with them and the many people they recommend to you.
