Your Personal Library of Knowledge PDF Print E-mail
Written by Michael Angier

I’ve often said that my reading library was my most valuable material possession. I much love the books I’ve collected over the years.

I go back to them often to look things up and to re-read the profound knowledge they contain. Among them are many first editions and signed copies.

More recently, however, my audio library has taken on greater value. I had audio cassette tapes and CDs from many of the same people who wrote the books. And now I’m converting them to MP3 files.

The MP3 audio format has been around for awhile, but it took the iPod and iTunes to really catapult this technology to where it is today.

Some of you may be saying that it’s video that’s the next big thing. And it is. In just a few days I’ll have some powerful information for you on how you can easily and inexpensively create your own Internet infomercials. It’s VERY cool.

But what I like about audio is that I can listen to some of the best experts in the world while I’m walking, riding a bike or driving in the car. I can also lean back in my recliner and soak up the knowledge and wisdom these programs teach me. I gain new ideas and different perspectives. I get reminded of things I’ve forgotten or didn’t think were as important the first time I heard them.

I downloaded iTunes about a year ago to organize my listening library. I love it. It’s a no-cost program, and it’s very well designed and easy to use. It also allows you to download podcasts with automatic updates. I’ve loaded most of my CDs into iTunes and all of my MP3 downloads.

It didn’t take me long to buy an iPod. I got the 30-gig video version for $300, and it was the best technology investment of the entire year. It’s only half-filled and I have a LOT of files on it. My wife has one too.

I believe that this is a tremendously underutilized tool for most people. To be able to listen to great speeches, top-notch seminars, as well as audio books, means that we can double or even quadruple our learning time. If you commute, it’s a no-brainer—you HAVE to be listening to the good, the powerful and the profound while you’re driving.

There are more and more teleseminars and audio programs available. And it’s just too valuable a technology and too rich a resource to be ignored.

Action Point
I encourage you to get an MP3 player and audio library program if you don’t already and USE them. Even if you don’t get the MP3 player right away, you can start listening on your computer with audio software.

Put them to work for you. Invest in good audio programs that will feed your mind, enrich your life and increase your income. Build your Personal Library of Knowledge.
