Two Heads Are Better Than One PDF Print E-mail
Written by Markus Allen

While I can't stand committees of more than one, there's a tremendous advantage to being able to draw from the collective experience and knowledge of a mastermind group.

Simply put, a mastermind group is a support team that you tap on a regular basis for advice, feedback and ideas.

For example, I have my own mastermind group called the "Marketing Junkies" . . . four high-level marketers who meet monthly to discuss projects we're working on . . .

Here are 7 secrets to a highly successful mastermind group:

1) Select people who have specialized knowledge you lack.

2) Create a schedule and stick to it (about once a month is just right.) Make it a firm appointment that only serious emergencies supersede.

3) Have an agenda (a format you follow.)  For example, the first 30 minutes is open for general discussion.  Then, each member is put on the "hot seat" for 20 minutes to discuss his challenge.

4) Make it a working vacation. We usually go out to fun places for dinner to discuss marketing so we look forward to each session.

5) Include the occasional guest. Our mastermind group has become an event that guests ask to be invited to ... for example, we've had gurus like Ken McCarthy, Bob Gatchel, Tom Antion and Steve Harrison.

6) Keep it small. Resist the temptation to grow your group as it becomes unmanageable when more than five people are exchanging ideas at the table.

7) Determine your disclosure policy ahead of time.  We openly discuss our numbers with the understanding that it does not leave the table.

Grow your business with cheap postcards . . .

Markus Allen reveals how here.
