I went out to the spa on our deck the other night just before going to bed. Dawn usually joins me for an evening tub, but tonight she passed on it and I was alone with my thoughts.

It was cold, and the 101-degree water was a stark contrast to the 25-degree air on the top of my head. There was no wind and it was quiet.

The moon provided enough illumination so I could even make out the new snow on top of Camel's Hump some 20 miles away—one of Vermont's highest and most distinctive peaks.

Even though I couldn't see them, I could hear the wild turkeys in the woods behind us. I had seen a rafter of them earlier in the day. I must admit, I didn't know that a "rafter" is what you call a bunch of turkeys. I looked it up.

I sat there in the warm water illuminated with a cool blue light from the spa and began reflecting on the life I am so fortunate to live. 

My business of almost 12 years is debt-free. And most of what I do I would do for nothing. My vocation is my avocation.

I'm married to the woman of my dreams. She's my partner and my best friend. I have a great relationship with my family and am blessed with great friends. My kids are all doing well as are my brothers and parents. And in March, for the first time, I'm going to be a grandfather.

I truly am living my dream.

I'm grateful, I'm fortunate and I am very happy.

But it wasn't always this way.

In many ways, my life hasn't been easy. I've been bankrupt. I've had a car repossessed. I've been divorced and have failed in business more than once.

I'm not complaining. I certainly have not had to deal with some of the tragedy that many others have had to endure.

But they say hardship builds character. I must ooze character.

So how did I get from there to where I am now?

How did I rise above my circumstances?

How did I create and attract the life of my dreams?

Well, I did just what I tell my members to do. What I teach and what I promote is based upon my study and my experience.

When my life was upside down, I didn't give up—although I wanted to. Instead, I recommitted and went back to the basics.

What are the basics?

Well, I suppose different experts might have some small differences as to their approach. Because it's all pretty simple, actually.

Simple, but rarely easy—and harder yet to do it alone.

If you learn the principles of success, get clear on what you want, why you want it, stay focused and take consistent action toward your goals, you will succeed. And you'll have a lot of fun along the way.

I wouldn't trade places with anyone. And although I'd rather not go through the same crucibles I went through over again, I wouldn't trade them either.

Here in the States, we're preparing for Thanksgiving. Let's all focus on everything we have to be thankful for. Dawn and I do that every night. We call it "doing our gratefuls". It puts our attention on what we want rather than on what we don’t have. And it starts the process of attracting even more.

If you learn to appreciate more of what you already have, you'll find yourself having even more to appreciate.

My life is not complete. I'm very happy, but I still have goals and dreams to accomplish. And one of them is to help people like you achieve your goals. I would like to have a part in helping you be able to say, "I'm living my dream". And that can start right now—if you're ready.
