Yes! I Fell For It! And I’m Sorry.
OK, I was tired, I was in a hurry and I was a bit lazy. I’m sorry. Please forgive me.
Yesterday, I warned my list of the potential of receiving unwanted calls because cell phone numbers were being released to telemarketers.
That apparently wasn’t acurate. I should have checked with someone like HoaxBusters like I usually do, but I didn’t.
The phone number and website were links to the national Do Not Call list for any telephone number, not just cell phones. But the part about cell numbers being turned over to telemarketers wasn’t true.
There is no national cell phone directory maintained by the Government.
There is no cutoff date for registering any phone number with the registry, including cell phones.
Be careful. There are some Do Not Call scams where for a mere $3 per month they will put you on the FTC’s Do Not Call list. If someone calls claiming to be from the FTC and wants to put you on the list for money, don’t buy it.
Do Not Call Registry phone is 1-888-382-1222

We HAVE used this for our personal phone number and it has really helped.
BTW, the tip about a system for getting a website up in just a few minutes WAS legit—and still is.
It really is pretty darned amazing.
