Father’s Day Redux
I’m blessed to have six children. They range in age from 16 to 36. I’m genuinely proud of each of them and they seem proud of me. They even remember my birthday most of the time. And they’re usually very supportive and complimentary.
But my youngest son gave me a compliment a few years ago that stands out as the most memorable of all. We’d just left a social gathering and Will, who was only 12 at the time, said to me, “I like the effect you have on people.”
I was a little taken aback and asked him what he meant. He said that he noticed the way people were around me and that he felt I made things better by being there.
How good is that? I’ll never forget his words that day. And I try hard every day to live up to his observation.
